Choosing the right 3D scanning spray
Reflective, transparent, dark and highly polished surfaces can be difficult for optical 3D scanners to capture accurately. A 3D scanning spray creates a thin, matt coating that reduces reflections and provides a more consistent surface for scanning.
The right AESUB product depends on how long you need the coating to remain effectively scannable, whether you want it to disappear after use, the size of the component and how the spray will be applied.

Effective scan time describes the typical working window during which the coating remains suitable for scanning. Sublimation time describes approximately how long the complete coating takes to disappear. Actual timings vary depending on temperature, airflow, surface structure, material and coating thickness.

AESUB Blue: for shorter scanning tasks
AESUB Blue is a self-vanishing aerosol spray designed for scanning tasks that can normally be completed within approximately 1–2 hours. It creates a thin, homogeneous matt white coating, with a nominal sublimation time of around four hours.
Its convenient aerosol format makes Blue a practical general-purpose option for preparing reflective, transparent and otherwise difficult-to-scan surfaces. The pigment-free coating gradually disappears after use, so post-scan cleaning is generally not required.
AESUB Orange: for a longer working window
AESUB Orange is the better choice when a component or measurement task requires more scanning time. It provides an effective scan time of approximately 4–8 hours, making it suitable for extended scanning projects, larger components and detailed measurement work.
Orange produces a particularly thin coating of approximately 2–6 µm. Its pigment-free coating has a nominal sublimation time of approximately 12–24 hours and gradually disappears after scanning, so manual removal is generally unnecessary.
AESUB Green: for large-scale and automated applications
AESUB Green is a self-vanishing bulk scanning liquid developed for large components, repeat applications and automated scanning workflows. It is supplied in 1-litre and 5-litre formats and requires a suitable spray gun for application.
Green provides an effective scan time of approximately 1–2 hours and has a nominal sublimation time of around six hours. Its bulk-liquid format makes it more appropriate than an aerosol when larger surface areas need to be coated. Application equipment is not included.
AESUB White: when the coating needs to remain
AESUB White is a permanent, pigment-containing scanning spray. Unlike Blue, Orange and Green, it does not sublimate: the coating remains on the component until it is manually removed.
This makes White suitable for scanning processes that require a stable, durable coating throughout the complete measurement task. It creates a thin matt white layer of approximately 7 µm but requires the component to be cleaned after scanning. Because it contains pigments, it should not be sprayed close to scanners, sensors or other sensitive equipment.
